Mexican property laws allow foreigners to own real estate through either a Mexican Corporation, if you plan on doing business in Mexico, or through a Fideicomiso, trust. The trust is secured by a Mexican Central Bank in accordance with NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement, and approved by the Mexican government. Foreigners basically acquire irrevocable and absolute ownership rights the same as a Mexican national through a 50 year perpetual renewable and transferable bank trust called the Fideicomiso. Title Insurance is also available to foreign investors. The most popular region in the area to own real estate is the Los Cabos region, which includes the southernmost tip of the Baja Peninsula, also known as "Mexico's Hawaii."
